Job Description Family Medicine Academic Hospitalist Opening in Lake Charles, LABeaumont TX 1hr; Baton Rouge 2 hrSeeking a family medicine academic hospitalist for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor (non-tenure, clinical track). Appointment will be commensurate with physicians credentials and experience. Work rotation 7on/7 off, available for night phone calls Job responsibilities will focus on providing excellent medical care in the inpatient care setting. Lead, supervise and teach a medicine team consisting of residents and medical students. Coordinate with outpatient care teams and case management for the safe, appropriate and timely discharge of patients. Participate in team meetings. Work with the team to review and develop appropriate order sets and procedures. Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and projects. Ensure timely completion of all documentation and other administrative tasks to ensure smooth and seamless operational follow through. Board certified/board eligible (or equivalent) Family Medicine physician with full, unrestricted medical staff privileges in Family Medicine. * The ideal candidate will have previous academic experience with obstetric skills, experience teaching medical students and residents, though not required.Program & Practice Highlights Community health system sponsored program Supportive Hospital administration Tight-knit, family like atmosphere among faculty, residents & staff Solid relationships with community preceptors Fully accredited by ACGME for 21 years 24 approved positions and 21 current (7-7-7) residents Unopposed program with single site learning environment Strong faculty with diverse backgrounds and skill sets Family Medicine Center located directly across from sponsoring hospital Full Inpatient and outpatient experience Diverse patient population Traditional outpatient practice and inpatient care Inpatient responsibilities at Hospital Full complement of consultants Primary responsibilities center on the education of 21 Family Medicine residents and visiting medical students, precepting residents, didactic presentations, and 1:7 week inpatient team lead.
