Description:
Summary of Description:Develop and oversee the engineering and
design efforts for the development of engineering drawings/packages
for all phases of a project from the feasibility study to
construction.Duties:
- Preparation of electrical equipment specifications, such as
generators and motors, power transformers, generator circuit
breakers, bus duct, switchgear, motor control centers, small dry
type transformers, heat trace, lighting, and variable frequency
drives
- Lead effort for developing drawings for new or modifications of
existing power distribution systems including one-line diagrams,
three-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Electrical system modeling including load flow, short circuit,
arc flash analysis, and protection/coordination studies. Generate
reports illustrating findings and recommendations.
- Implement recommended protection settings and generate
protective relay settings
- Prepare technical bid evaluations and make recommendations
- Gather data from electrical equipment and conduct field
evaluations to support project work involving existing power
systems
- Scope definition of the project discipline engineering
requirements, estimating project man hours and requirements.
- Develop construction scopes of work, front end engineering and
design project scopes, and project execution plans
- Supervise overall electrical engineering construction drawing
package quality and production.
- Meet with client's technical personnel to discuss project
scope, options, recommendations, and to request any data or
information required to execute the project
- Interpret and apply relevant electrical and industry codes to
project work as required i.e. NEC, NFPA 497, API RP 500, IEEE
1584
- Ability to execute projects with little to no supervision or
guidance required
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Education and Experience:Bachelor of Science Degree in a related
discipline from an accredited university with at least ten (10)
years of experience in refinery, petrochemical, chemical, offshore,
pipeline or utility industries; or an equivalent combination of
education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the
essential duties of the job such as those listed above.License
Requirements:
- Valid Driver's License as per State law or requirement
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferredSpecific Skills:
- Experience with specifying medium voltage and low voltage power
distribution equipment, including switchgear, MCCs, transformers,
motors, generators, etc.
- Experience with performing various power system studies, such
as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, etc. in ETAP, SKM, or
equivalent software
- Experience with design scope development, budget preparation
and project execution meeting schedule requirements and maintaining
established budgets. Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and
construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
- Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body
temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15
minutes without a break.
- Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders
unassisted.
- Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing
protection.
- Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended
periods of time.
- Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel;
reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch
or crawl; and talk and hear.
- Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between
colors.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver's
license.
- Ability to lift and carry 15 lbs. on a regular basis is
required and at times lifting up to 25 lbs. may be
