Position Purpose/SummaryThe Cable Technician is committed to

the growing demands of a global economy.Primary Duties &
Responsibilities1. Undertakes all projects related to splicing,
locating, terminating, testing, and maintenance of cables,
including but not limited to, fiber, copper, and CATV (coax)
cable2. Sizing and planning new installation of cables by our
company or by contractors3. Identifies and counts groups of cable
pairs and prepares the groups for splicing or termination4.
Maintains cable system by testing to locate trouble, opening cable
to repair or replace defective sections, using splicing techniques
then closing and sealing cable5. Maintains cable air pressure by
ensuring that all splice closures and termination points are
airtight and free of moisture.6. Ties or terminates cable to
protector devices and main distribution frame at central office,
laces cable down to cable vault, and splices into central office
cable7. Ties customer drop cable to central office cable system,
using splicing techniques and special equipment, such as
multi-distribution stubs and terminal access boxes8. Repairs and
maintains telephone and CATV drops9. Mounts demarcation devices and
protectors at customers premises and attaches individual cable
pairs of central office feeder cable10. Mounts terminal blocks
throughout customer premises and attaches individual house or
service cable pairs and ties other end of house cable to terminal
block at demarcation point where all inside wiring and subscriber
loop feeder cable meet11. Performs testing on completed splices or
terminations to ensure dependable service12. Wires load coil into
the subscriber loop plant, supports cable, splice closures, and
distribution stubs as necessary13. Transfers customer's service
from one cable and/or terminal to another with minimal service
interruption14. Installs and maintains all types of carrier systems
and remotes15. Plows and maintains drops16. Documents daily work in
a company issued work book for future reference17. Understanding
and strictly adhering to the Company's Customer Proprietary Network
Information (CPNI) policy while appropriately maintaining the
confidentiality of customer records18. Understanding how all
departments contribute to the success of the organization and
referring customers and employees to the appropriate department to
best fulfill their needs19. Building and maintaining a good rapport
and cooperative relationship with customers and co-workers while
taking ownership of responsibilities and being accountable for
his/her own actions20. Being an advocate for Company programs and
special events while taking initiative to participate and
volunteering readily when opportunities arise21. Performing all
other duties and responsibilities assignedKnowledge, Abilities, &
Skills for Success1. Knowledge of all cable meters and cable
trouble hunting and toning devices which are needed to repair and
maintain cable2. knowledge of copper, fiber, and CATV (coax) cable
installations, cable maintenance and cable testing equipment3.
Knowledge of and the ability to comply with CPNI regulations and
procedures4. Ability to embrace change in the workplace while
encouraging others to seek innovative approaches and the ability to
function effectively as a team player5. Proficient computer skills
and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes
change.Qualifications--- High school diploma or equivalent---
Previous work experience (preferred)Working Conditions--- Must have
valid driver's license--- Work in an outdoor environment year
