Job Description:
The Position
The Field Partner (FP) is a field-based position that primarily
functions to lead the field-based Scientific Liaison team, with the
objective of delivering critical scientific exchange including
medical/scientific education and responses to unsolicited
"off-label" inquiries in support of both healthcare professionals
as well as Roche scientific support groups and local business
teams.
The FP will recruit, hire, coach, develop, and train the Scientific
Liaison team while ensuring the team is functioning consistent with
policies and procedures of each activity. The FP is therefore
responsible for also ensuring that all activities are compliant
requiring ongoing feedback and guidance from legal, regulatory, and
compliance colleagues.
The FP will manage through subordinate supervisors, managers,
individual contributors or programs, the coordination of the
activities of the Scientific Liaison team. The FP will work closely
with Scientific Partners, Disease Area Partners, and other Medical
Affairs Partners to provide insights and implement field-based
medical strategies.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Personnel Management
* Ensure team members have the relevant medical or scientific
background, knowledge and expertise and all relevant training for
their roles
* Provide coaching and development opportunities for the regional
scientific liaison team
* Create an inspiring team environment with an agile, open
culture.
* Provide direction, coaching and development
* Analyze resource requirements and justify headcount changes as
required
* Gather and communicate insights from the field-based Scientific
Liaisons on the real world use of diagnostic instruments and tests
to inform medical strategy
* Prioritize and develop plans for the field Scientific Liaison
team, based on divisional strategy
* Provide and coordinate responses to customer inquiries by
contributing to the development of educational tools and
materials
* Works closely with other MSA colleagues to develop and implement
strategies for successful customer engagements at conferences,
congresses, symposia, and other large meetings.
* Involved in developing, modifying and executing policies and/or
procedures related to field-based activities.
* May support field personnel training on technical and disease
area knowledge for Commercial and Medical colleagues
* Must maintain knowledge of applicable research and literature
* May respond to unsolicited requests for information about
unapproved products or uses, or off-label information.
* Ensure Regulatory and Legal compliance and appropriate
documentation for team activities
* Maintain proper documentation and record keeping for team
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ATTRIBUTES
Minimum Requirements
2+ years people or other related leadership experience AND
PhD in Science + 2 years relevant work experience (such as
clinical, research, managed care, industry) OR
Masters Level Degree in Science + 5 years of relevant work
experience (such as clinical, research, managed care, industry)
OR
Bachelors Level Degree in Science + 7 years relevant work
experience (such as clinical, research, managed care, industry)
Strongly Preferred:
Diverse experience in medical affairs industry positions including
field-based roles and strategy roles.
Previous MSL management experience strongly preferred.
Oncology biomarker/diagnostics/pharmaceutical experience a strong
asset.
For Colorado residents, the expected salary for this position is
$171K - $210K. For NYC residents, the expected salary range for
this position is $214K - $262K. For New York state residents (with
exception of NYC), expected salary for this position will be $202K
- $248K. Depending on where the employee resides, salary can vary.
Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications,
and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position is
eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid
in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for
the role. This position also qualifies for the benefits listed
below.

This position is a home based role, and can be based anywhere in
continental U.S. As such, this role does not offer relocation
