    Additional Details
    • Service - Holds around-the-clock 100% accountability for the management of clinical nursing practice and patient * care on a daily basis including safe patient care, staff attendance, and all functions regarding patient care
    • Implements changes necessary for the clinical departments involved to maintain and improve quality patient care
    • Ensure that each nurse on staff is properly licensed and abides by the standards for care established by the organization and state and federal laws
    • Assumes accountability for remaining current on standards of care as established by CMS, The Joint Commission, etc. and promotes compliance on a daily basis
    • Participates in all admission decisions ensuring that the patient's clinical needs can be met at the hospital
    • Ensures that daily patient assignments are commensurate with the level of education, training, and demonstrated competencies of personnel
    • Ensures nursing personnel use the nursing process in managing patient care and ensures continuity from admission through discharge
    • Participates in daily and weekly interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient status, census changes, pending admissions, discharges, etc
    • Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation
    • Performs rounds to observe care and to interview staff, patients, families and physicians
    • Monitors staff for compliance with OSHA mandates and facility policies on workplace safety
    • Monitors the nursing budgeted FTE level, and makes changes according to the acuity of the patients and the needs of the hospital on a daily basis
    • Is accountable for the management of nursing personnel functions, seeks to recruit and retain an appropriate mix of qualified, competent, nursing personnel as needed
    • Develops a plan for the nursing department that focuses on the provision of high-quality, cost-effective care for the patient that is consistent with the hospital's strategic plan
    • Establishes, implements, and monitors the infection control program which is designed to prevent the development and transmission of disease and infection
    • Prepares and reviews infection control surveillance reports to identify trends and to develop effective actions to control and prevent infections
    • Provides written quarterly reports to the medical staff in regards to infection prevention and control process and quality issues
    • Reports mandatory quality and infection control data to the appropriate regulatory body within the required timeframes
    • Collaborates with Performance Improvement Director and the Interdisciplinary Team in the development and implementation of Performance Improvement measures
    • Monitors, tracks, and trends Performance Indicators as applicable. Collects data and makes recommendations based on results
    • Supervises and directs all activities of the Resource Management Department as assigned by the Administrator
    • Supervises and directs all activities of the Respiratory Therapy Department as assigned by the Administrator
    • Supervises and directs all activities of the Housekeeping Department as assigned by the Administrator
    • Acts in an administrative capacity in the absence of the Administrator
    • Performs all other duties as assigned
    • Quality Officer TS: Updates the PI Plan for review and revision by the Performance Improvement Committee and approval of the Governing Board
    • Quality Officer TS: Plans and coordinates PI meetings
    • Quality Officer TS: Coordinates data collection and analysis, prepares reports, tracks the status of the follow ing (data is collected by designated individuals): Blood use Medication use/errors Risk management, Patient safety Infection control, Safety, Satisfaction surveys, Restraints, Resuscitation, Mortality record review, Procedure review
    • Department PI indicators, trends analysis, and corrective action plans Other as indicated
    • Quality Officer TS: Prepares an annual report for the PI plan and process
    • Quality Officer TS: Coordinates the regulatory survey process
    • Quality Officer TS: Oversees PI projects identified through the on-going hospital-wide data driven quality assessment and performance improvement program
    • Quality Officer TS: Assists with the credentialing process, medical staff PI profiles
    • Safety Officer TS: Develops responses to sentinel event alerts published by regulatory agencies or other similar alerts, as appropriate
    • Safety Officer TS: Serves as chairman of the Safety Risk committee
    • Safety Officer TS: Develops and implements key patient safety indicators approved by the hospital administration
    • Safety Officer TS: Educates staff, employees, and patients/families on patient safety initiatives
    • Safety Officer TS: Integrates patient safety into performance improvement and risk reduction activities
    • Safety Officer TS:Participates in proactive risk analyses (failure mode effects and critical analysis) selected by the leadership
    • Safety Officer TS: Provides safety reports to performance improvement and medical executive committee meetings
    • Safety Officer TS: Assists with the development of policies and procedures to support an effective and comprehensive safety program
    • Safety Officer TS: Defines mechanisms for providing psychological support to staff who have been involved in a sentinel/critical event
    • Safety Officer TS: Maintains documentation supporting the structure and processes evidence regarding the effectiveness of the safety program
    • Safety Officer TS: Provides input into the budget process for expenses related to patient safety
    • Safety Officer TS: Serves as the HRSA Coordinator; attends HRSA meetings
    • Safety Office TS: Ensures mothly environmnetal monitoring of deparmental patient safety compliance data
    • Safety Office TS: Serves as an internal consultant to the executive council, clinical department, other services, and performance improvement teams, on patient safety initiatives
    • Safety Officer TS: Ensures that the elements of the safety plan are integrated throughout the organization

      Formal Education: Associate Degree or certification equivalent
      Experience: 3 years
      License, Registration, and / or Certification Requirement: Yes
      Education Requirements
      • Registered Nurse from an accredited school of nursing.
        Education Desired
        • BSN preferred.
          Experience Requirements
          • Involvement in budgetary processes, personnel management, and infection control practices.
            Experience Desired
            • Two years management experience preferred.
              License Requirements
              • Current registered nurse in state of employment.
                • ACLS certification.
                  • CPR certification.
                    License Desired
                    • CCRN/PCCN certification preferred.
