12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years in specialty required. License:
Compact or state nursing license in hand upon submission.
Certifications: - AHA certifications required. - AWHONN
Intermediate required for L&D. - CPI certification required or
must be able to obtain it before start. - NURSYS reports for RNs
must be sent with the profile and must be up to date (within 4
weeks of submission). Must-Have: - Post-op experience required. -
Acute care experience required. - Experience working full-time on a
post-op unit. - One travel contract completed. Description: This is
a Medical Surgical position that specializes in post-operative GI
and wound care. Candidates must have experience with the following
patient diagnoses: pancreatitis, GI bleeds, bowel obstructions,
bowel perforation, wound infections, post-operative infections,
mass removal, esophageal perforation, gunshot wounds, motor vehicle
crashes, and diverticulitis. Candidates should be familiar with
special procedures, including but not limited to pancreatectomy,
esophagectomy, Whipple, splenectomy, adrenalectomy, cystectomy,
colectomy, thyroidectomy, mastectomy, hepatic resection, Nissen
fundoplication, bariatric surgery, TURP, gastrectomy, and
parathyroidectomy. Experience with equipment such as PEG, PEJ, PCA,
percutaneous drains, JP drains, hemovac, wound vac, nephrostomy
tubes, ileostomy, colostomy, and urostomy is preferred. The unit
manager may assign candidates to an "Emergency Team" during the
hurricane season. The position may require staying on site until
after a storm passes or being part of the relief team. Candidates
should not apply if they are not comfortable with this
responsibility. References will be required along with the
submission. Please ensure that availability for weekend blocks is
indicated. Post-operative experience is mandatory.
