A hospital in Louisiana is seeking a Gastroenterology Physician to provide quality patient care for a Locum Tenens assignment.

Assignment:

Dates: Very flexible on dates. The other two providers there want weekend/vacation/holiday call coverage first.

Credentialing turn around makes start around August/September. Client can emergency privilege for the right candidate. Hospital is quicker to credential at so a provider that is only interested in weekend call could get started more quickly than someone doing clinic too.

Schedule: Weekend and holiday call coverage and/or Monday - Friday clinic

Ideal one person that does clinic and can do endoscopies as well (elective and emergency) and then someone that does weekend and holiday coverage. Weekend call coverage would be every three weeks and holiday. A provider that only wants to do clinic they are flexible on accepting 1-4 weeks/ month (2 or more ideal for patient continuity)

Setting: Mix of Inpatient and Outpatient

Call: 1:3 rotation depending on the availability of the provider / night and weekend call

Volume: Very high. Wait to get seen by a GI is about 3-4 weeks out. Client is following up with #s

Patient Ages: Mostly adults

Procedures: Endoscopies (ERCP and EUS not required but plus)

Cases: Bread and butter GI. A lot of weight driven illnesses (LA cuisine)

Support Staff: Fully staffed clinic (APP), NP works with them does endoscopies (she does clinic and hospital help too), nursing staff, etc.

EMR/Charting: EPIC

Requirements:

Boards: Board Certified; Board Eligible within 5 years

Certifications: ACLS; BLS
