Job Description:
Position SummaryThis position evaluates and configures
manufacturing processes and systems to reduce cost, improve
sustainability and efficiency and develop best practices within the
production process. Essential Job Functions
- Investigates and troubleshoots manufacturing processes;
proposes solutions to identified processing problems
- Improves process capability volume; maintains and improving
quality standards; develops innovative solutions
- Evaluates manufacturing systems; proposes improvements on
processes as appropriate
- Assesses processes; takes measurements; interprets data; tests
new processes; proposes changes, updates, or other adjustments
- Collects data required to make improvements and modifications
as assigned
- Uses scientific principles related to magnitude, momentum, heat
transfer, etc. to determine process efficiencies
- Ensures process equipment works as specified and at appropriate
capacities
- Uses process simulation software; establishes best practices
for production methods
- Maintains manufacturing reliability; improves production rates,
efficiencies, yields, costs and changeovers
- Works with equipment designers and manufacturing personnel to
develop cost-effective work production processes
- Ensures projects completed on time and within budget
- Assists in scheduling and coordinating work to meet tight
deadlines; stays within financial budgets
- Liaises with various engineers, planners, operations personnel,
and other departments as necessary
- Collects, records, and transcribes data; prepares samples for
analysis
- Maintains monthly, quarterly and annual operations report;
delivers report to management
- Evaluates process efficiency, quality and safety; makes
suggestions for improvements when necessary; performs
troubleshooting on plant equipment and systems
- Investigates cause and effect of critical, emergency, and other
shutdowns; analyzes data in advance of shutdown and after
completion
- Works with outsourced engineers; requisitions assistance as
requested
- Analyzes how process changes will effect overall production and
product; implements process improvements to reduce cost and
increase efficiency
- Assists with project planning and project management; handles
small capital upgrades as requested
- Performs other duties assigned by management that generally
fall within the expected scope of this positionExperience & KSA's
Required
- Minimum five years experience as a mechanical engineer in
petrochemical or refining industry
- Manufacturing site experience preferred
- Experience in CAPEX planning, budgeting, reviewing, and
executing
- Prior monomer or ethylene plant operations experience
preferred
- Ability to research best chemical plant practices; knowledge of
plant safety, health, and environmental requirements for
engineering and construction
- Ability to read engineering, construction and other technical
specs, drawings, schematics, plans, and similar documentsEducation
Requirement
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer certification a plus
