Dept./School: BCHS Contact Days: 210 Primary Purpose: Coordinate
and maintain CTE, College and Career program at the High School
campus for personal and staff professional growth, cooperation, and
self-renewal that stimulates creativity and innovation.
Qualifications: Education/Certification: Master’s degree Texas
principal or other appropriate Texas certificate Texas Teacher
Evaluation and Support System (T-TESS) Advanced Education
Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training
(ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of campus operations Working
knowledge of CTE, College and Career requirements Working knowledge
of curriculum and instruction Ability to evaluate instructional
program and teaching effectiveness Ability to manage budget and
personnel Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to
interpret data Excellent organizational, communication, and
interpersonal skills Experience: Two years experience as a
classroom teacher and experience as a campus counselor preferred.
Major Responsibilities and Duties: Work cooperatively with the
principal to select personnel for instructional assignments by
assisting in the recruitment and selection, training, and
supervision of all CTE department personnel at the Middle School
and High School. Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a
regular, systematic basis, and the findings, including student
achievement data and district assessments, are used to make the CTE
programs more effective. Provide leadership and technical expertise
in the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan for
use of technology related to CTE courses. Coordinate the planning
and conducting of periodic needs assessments related to course
selection offering for the CTE programs. Plan and create curriculum
guidelines at the district and campus level with help from
appropriate administrators, ensuring that career TEKS are being
taught at the appropriate grade level. Obtain and use evaluative
findings (including student achievement data) to gauge CTE program
effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and
responsive to student needs. Plan, develop, evaluate, and
coordinate CTE staff development training options and improvement
plans by using the mission of the district, program evaluation
outcomes and input from principals, teachers, and others to ensure
best practices focusing on district and state goals. Develop and
implement parent programs focusing on building awareness of
careers, certifications, pathways, and post-secondary training at
the secondary level. Ensure that CTE teachers have the necessary
training and materials to improve participation and learning of
student certifications. Administer the CTE district budget,
Perkins’ grant, and other grants to ensure that programs are cost
effective and that funds are managed. Maintain a current inventory
of supplies and equipment and recommend disposal and replacement of
equipment as necessary. Manage all CTE districts purchases in
accordance with budgetary and grant limitations and district
policy. Maintain safety standards that conform to state, federal,
and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventive
safety for CTE related equipment and CTE labs grades 6-12. Lead the
CTE Advisory Group. Work and participate with community groups,
business leaders, and industry to create, maintain, and sustain
partnerships to support CTE programs and to meet the needs of
community stakeholders. Foster goodwill through coordination of
partnerships and recognition with the business, industry, and
community partners and serve as a liaison for the district.
Encourage and support development of innovative instructional
programs, helping new CTE teachers pilot such efforts when
appropriate. Participate in program evaluation measures and make
suggestions for improvement where needed grades 6-12. Mentor and
develop new teachers grades 9-12. College and Career Coordinator
Job Duties and Responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge and ability
to interpret PEIMS data and maintain the accuracy of PEIMS reports
for the department. Work collaboratively with counselors and create
a system of checks and balances to assign PEIMS coding for grades
7-12. Work collaboratively with counselors on course selections and
the development and monitoring of 4-year endorsement pathways and
CTE programs of studies with students to include college and career
preparation and the transition of 8th grade students to high
school. Assist students in their development of Career Pathways
using the student’s career interest and aptitude information.
Facilitate the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA). Monitor
and track CCMR data for state accountability using Career Craft and
College Bridge. Conduct annual college and career fairs. Policy,
Reports, and Law Implement the policies established by federal and
state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy in
curriculum and instruction area. Compile, maintain, and file all
reports, records, and other documents as required. Follow district
safety protocols and emergency procedures. Budget, Recordkeeping,
Reporting, and Inventory as directed in the following areas:
Maintain and ensure integrity of testing data. Ensure all materials
and data are submitted within established timelines. Complete
evaluation and compliance reports as required by federal and state
programs. Compile, maintain, file, and secure all reports, records,
and other required documents. Develop, implement, and maintain an
inventory system to track and monitor location of test materials
throughout the distribution, return, and storage process.
Administer department budget and ensure that programs are
cost-effective and funds are managed wisely. Communication
Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open
communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and
community members. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervise and
evaluate the work of professional staff as assigned by the school
principal. Coordinate the work of teachers, custodians,
paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.
