Job DescriptionJob Title: Accounting InternDepartment: Safety
Council of SWLALocation: Lake CharlesReports To: Staff
AccountantFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSummaryThe Accounting Intern will
perform complex clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting assignments
and prepare accounting statements and financial reports. Apply
knowledge of financial terms and principles to real-world
experience and assist with a variety of accounting
activities.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the
following:Prepares financial reports and various accounting
statements.Attention to detail and ability to audit GL and other
reports that are needed for critical business decisions.Maintain
records and keep track of expenses related to special projects and
capital expenditures.Balance bank statements and submit to
Accounting leader.Work with insurance and other vendors to maintain
records and provided needed documentation.Generates summary sheets
to be used by stakeholders.Generate and proofs accounting reports
for clerical accuracy.Allocates expenditures to correct accounts
according to departmental procedures.Performs other related duties
as assigned.Administrative SupportAssists with communicating
purchases to co-workers, management, clients, and othersAssists
with mail disbursementsFiling and copying dutiesPerforms additional

or equivalent; currently enrolled in either an Accounting or
Business related Bachelor's degree program. One to two years of
experience preferred.Language SkillsAbility to read, analyze, and
interpret financial documents, convert general instruction into
spreadsheets, apply technical procedures, or governmental
regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and
procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers,
and the general public.Computer SkillsTo perform this job
successfully, an individual should have a general knowledge and
proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and other Office Suite products.
Individual should also have knowledge of internet search engines,
web applications and accounting software. Competent in pivot tables
preferred.Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply,
divide, use whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.Reasoning
AbilityAbility to solve practical problems and deal with a variety
of concrete variables in situations where only limited
standardization exists. Ability to interpret and carry out a
variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or
schedule form.Physical DemandsWhile performing the duties of this
job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to reach with
and arms; and talk or hear. This is a largely sedentary role, but
the employee is occasionally required to stand, stoop, crouch or
kneel. The employee may have to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close
vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and
ability to adjust focus.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a
professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard
office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing
